Choose an installer that respects your safety and wellbeing

The World Health Organisation and the Government have now allowed installers to come into homes to quote and carry out their work if they adhere to the advised health and safety guidelines. This is great news as many of us would like to get our home improvement projects off the ground, but how do you know that you’re inviting the right company into your home? One which will always respect your safety and wellbeing even when no one is looking?

Let us tell you a little about the values that are at our core. Way back in the 90s, when the double-glazing industry was in its infancy, a group of proud, hard-working installers, all using industry leading VEKA products, came together to form Independent Network. An organisation that would let them prove their commitment to quality, craftsmanship and honest service that is second-to-none. That’s the culture that is still very much present today.

Each one of our Trusted Traders is committed to ensuring the highest possible health and safety standards and official guidelines. Seeing a team in boiler suits, gloves and facemasks at your door may seem a little intimidating but please rest assured that they are doing this because they are putting the safety of you, your family and their people first.

Here are some of things that you should expect when inviting a company into your home to quote, or begin work:

A Co-vid 19 Health and Safety Declaration Certificate

All our installers will carry certification that shows that they understand and adhere to the health and safety guidelines relating to Covid-19 issued by the Government and World Health Organisation.

 

Social distancing, correct PPE and sanitisation

Please don’t be offended if one of our people takes a step back, doesn’t offer a handshake or sanitises the area before and after they carry out their work. This is no reflection on your hygiene, this is for yours and their protection.

Your installer will talk you through how work will be carried out safely and may ask you to remove any fragile items, curtains and blinds to reduce the risk of transmission. They may also ask you to ventilate the area before they arrive.

You’ll be asked to wait in a designated area while the work is carried out. If the weather allows it, please sit and enjoy your outdoor spaces while your home is being transformed.

 

Paperless working

Your installer may prefer you to make payments over the phone and email you any important documents. This is to keep physical contact to a minimum and help to prevent the spread of infection. Of course, they will be happy to talk you through all your questions as they would have normally.

 

They take care of their own refreshments and toilet breaks

It’s human nature to offer people a cup of tea and a biscuit when they’re hard at work in your home, but our installer teams will bring their own refreshments and take care of their own facilities whilst at work. I’m sure they’d appreciate a cheers sign from a distance though!
